Pakistan – Education for marginalized children („Aao Parhain“)

Project partnersThe Voice Society

Project grant WEA Partnership: 50.400 €

„Aao Parhain“ means „Let’s learn“ and is an educational project for disadvantaged children in the southern part of the Pakistani province of Punjab. The project aimed to provide 70 children from an environment marked by poverty and radicalization with access to schooling.

Near a brickyard, Voice Society established a safe, child-friendly learning center. There, children received instruction in reading and writing, had time for creative play, and were given a nutritious lunch. In addition, they were taught basic skills in hygiene, health care, and social behavior. The classes were divided into two age groups: five to ten years old and ten to fifteen years old.

Qualified and motivated teachers guide the children with a special focus on dignity, motivation, positive social behavior, and religious tolerance. Before the project began, parents were intensively involved to reinforce the importance of education for their children's future.

The project primarily targeted particularly disadvantaged children from marginalized minorities who would otherwise have little opportunity to attend school. The school is open to children regardless of their social or religious background.
