Project grant WEA Partnership: 13.500 €

As part of the "Immediate Relief for Floods" project, the Evangelical Alliance Congo (AEC) supported a total of 400 survivors of the severe floods and landslides of May 4, 2023 in Bushushu and Nyamukubi in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo with a project grant of €13,500 through WEA Partnership.

The villages around Lake Kivu and along the national highway were devastated by massive landslides, caused in part by deforestation and unsustainable agricultural practices. Many people lost their lives, and numerous houses were destroyed or buried. Thousands of residents lost their livelihoods as a result.

Immediately after the disaster, the AEC conducted a needs assessment to identify particularly vulnerable households. AEC staff then distributed food to these households.
